I Sapori del Mare is a well-known and well-established restaurant located in a convenient position in the centre of the Lombard capital.It has been run by the Mereu family for over ten years. Valentino, the patron, has accomplished half a century of passionate and hard work in the restaurant business.His daughter Veronica, who in turn has over twenty years of experience in the industry, has taken over the business.Keeping in mind the foundations of tradition imprinted by her father, Veronica has given the restaurant and menu a more personalized and modern touch.She is always looking for ways to improve the quality.

Nostalgia for the island of Sardinia

When entering I Sapori del Mare a feeling of warmth from the wood furnishings and the light blue colours reminds us of fishing boats and the colour of the Mediterranean waves. It is a simple and plain restaurant but nevertheless very elegant. The guests are welcomed into a warm and friendly environment. There is a total of 90 seats with an external veranda which is heated in the winter and open in the summer and it has 30 seats.The veranda is a more private area and very trendy.

The Mereu family come from a small town in the south of Sardinia, Pauli Arbarei and you can tell that they really love their island.Valentino has passed on the ancient values of his island to his children and to all of the other restaurant workers.He has taught them the art of hospitality: how to be courteous and discreet but also strong in their passion for this business that have chosen as their occupation.

I Sapori del Mare is the ideal place to celebrate any kind of special occasion, from a business meeting to a date with your companion or a group of friends.
In the kitchen there are four very dedicated chef de partie under the supervision of Maria Rosaria. In the restaurant dining room Veronica, her brother Jonathan and another waiter divide their excellent service to all guests, paying great attention to detail.

The menu has a quality selection of fresh fish which can be presented in many different ways.The dishes are made with a variety of genuine ingredients and prepared according to the island traditions.

The most appreciated dishes are with raw fish, which can be eaten with very little sauce.For example, oysters, sea truffles, scampi, red and purple prawns, cockles, rasor clams, sea snails, sea urchins (if available), mixed carpaccio, tartar and royal plateau for 2 people.The appetizers are a must: Catalan seafood, baby octopus stew, fried anchovies with scents of citrus, mussel and clam sauté with toasted bread, mix au gratin, seafood salad, fish soup and a choice of marinated fish.

The first courses are mostly Sardinian:traditional Sardinian fregola, tagliolino pasta with red prawns and black truffles, linguina pasta with sea urchins, paccheri pasta with raw and cooked seafood sauce, ravioli with seafood flavours, spaghetti with clams and mullet bortago, linguina pasta with red lobster sauce, spaghetti with astice, and lastly canaroli rice (min. 2 people) a tribute to Lombard traditions.

Fresh fish

Second courses are just as tempting and exquisite: mixed fried fish, mixed grilled fish, calamari and squid with fresh vegetables, octupus dish, king prawns, carabineros prawns, European lobster and red lobster.For our selection of fresh fish: sea bream, sea bass, sea brill, gurnard, scorpion fish, red bream, San Pietro fish, sole, and red mullet. Typical side dishes are grilled or stir-fried vegetables, fresh salad and french fries or fried zucchini/courgettes.

For those who prefer eating meat there is an excellent selection such as tagliata (steak strips) and Florentine T-bone steak. The meat comes from the other high-quality Mereu family restaurant La Quarta Carbonaia which is located in Viale Regina Giovanna 22 in Milan.
